In the Grass - Lioness

This is one of my earliest serious paintings of a lion, and it is still one of my favourites. It is not much more than a simple study of a lioness in repose. My goal was to capture the sense of an individual and particular animal with the quiet confidence of the so-called "king of the beasts".
