Desert Bighorn

The bighorn has an extensive range from British Columbia to Baja California. The climate and habitat vary so much that the sheep have evolved into special species with special body adaptations.

There is a general rule that colder climates produce bigger body mass and shorter appendages to reduce heat loss.
Since the desert bighorn sometimes has a problem with heat, it has a relatively rangy look. The body is the center, the legs seem longer, and the neck and face more slender.

To my way of thinking, this makes him the most awkward looking of the bighorns. Nevertheless, I have tried to portray him in a noble way - at rest, yet alert.
