The broad-tailed hummingbird is strictly found in the areas of the Rockies and the Great Basin. It may be seen visiting the flowers in mountain meadows and usually nests in coniferous forests. The wings of male broad-tailed hummingbirds produce a loud, trilling noise in their diving and looping display flights.
